about

A collection of experimental pieces combining improv, noise and spoken word. All of these pieces employ texts that have been created using experimental methods and Oulipo constraints. In the case of the final three pieces, these texts relate to themes of feminist sonic practices and digital aesthetics; in the first four pieces the texts relate to the circumstances in which the pieces were created.

The first four tracks of this album were recorded at the Experimental Studio of the South West Radio station (SWR) in Freiburg in April in 2023. These tracks combine e-violin, spoken voice and live electronics; the texts for each piece form an experimental ‘score’ or structure around which we improvise and develop musical ideas.

The latter 3 tracks, composed a few years earlier, combine e-violin and spoken voice with more minimal electronic sound and processing. However, in common with the first four tracks, the texts form structures around which we improvise.
