This postcard has been realised for 13 violins, divided into two groups: a slowly changing chord cluster (quartet), and a larger nonet of soloists. For some reason, while playing this through, I kept thinking of how the two distant cultures presented in Chris Marker's film correspond at different levels; while his observations are presented as letters or diary entries, they gradually establish poetic narratives of possible relationship.
